For a  testing of sparkling wines it is worth to visit Franciacorta area in the north of Lombardy. Franciacorta sparkling wines are created by the process of natural fermentation in the bottle using the grapes Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco.

There is also another option: to visit the wineries in the region of Piedmont, the homeland of famous Italian red vine Barolo, made with  the Nebbiolo grape.
