Let’s go to Lugano lake in Switzerland!
The town called Campione d'Italia well be our first stop on Lugano Lake.
The name of this village suggest us that it is a part of Italy, located in the Swiss district. Since early medieval time, this village has always been independent and ruled by one monastery from Milan.
Today inhabitants of Campione, being Italian citizens may use the Swiss postal service, Swiss money and the car's license plates.
This village occupies one square kilometer but it will surprise you with a local gallery of art, well-groomed streets in the Swiss style and the extremely beautiful Sanctuary dedicated to Santa Maria Dei Girlie
The amazing gothic frescoes tell us about the most important scenes from the history of Saint John Baptist. This church decorated by local artists, who had lived in a different historical periods of time. Baroque frescoes cycle represent the Holy Mary in the most important moments of her life. It will be nice to discover why so many masterpieces are concentrated here, in a tiny village, in a small church?
We continue our journey in Lugano city center. Luxurious, quiet, beautiful this city on the shore of the lake has a pedestrian area where the historical sights are hidden among modernity : Reform Square, Cathedral, City Gardens, Church of Santa Maria degli angeli.
Swiss themselves called this city “the Swiss Monte Carlo”.
After Zurich and Geneva Lugano is the third important financial platform in Switzerland.
On the way back
about 10 km from Lugano we visit the chocolate factory to the joy of the children and adults. Here you can taste and buy local chocolate, see the part of the production and small museum. Interesting and tasty!
